Absorption (ammonia) minibar
There is not a single moving part inside; cooling is produced by an ammonia cycle. That is why it runs at 0 dB — a guest sleeping next to it hears nothing at all. The price of that silence is energy: roughly 0.90 kWh per day, about 328 kWh per minibar per year. It remains the standard in five-star rooms where silence is not negotiable.
Thermoelectric (Peltier) minibar
It has no compressor and no refrigerant gas, so the purchase price is lower. Elektromarla's Peltier minibars are fanless, which means they too run at 0 dB. The thermoelectric module draws power continuously to hold temperature: roughly 0.275 kWh per day, about 100 kWh per year. Cooling performance drops as room temperature rises, so it suits projects where summer room temperatures stay under control.
Inverter compressor minibar
Instead of switching on and off, the compressor varies its speed to match demand. The result: roughly 0.13 kWh per day, about 47 kWh per year, and an A+++ energy class. At 23-26 dB the running sound goes unnoticed in a room. Over the long run this is the system with the lowest operating cost.
Which one should you choose?
If you plan to run the hotel for five years or more, an inverter compressor minibar pays for itself quickly through the difference in electricity alone. If absolute silence and a long service life with no moving parts come first, absorption is the right choice. If the budget is tight but you do not want to give up silence, and your room temperatures are controlled, Peltier is a sensible middle ground.
